Day 22

We woke up and had a quick breakfast before heading up to Spooner Lake again.  We decided that we wanted to hike out to Marlette Lake.  We had ridden mountain bikes to the lake last time out there.  When we got to the park gate we found out there were only 4 parking spots left.   There were 3 races there.  A 15K, 50 mile and 100 mile race were being run that day.

Our hike was a bit shorter at 11 miles round trip.  We started on the same trail we were on last year then switched over to a hiking only trail.  It was a hike but worth it when we got to the lake.  It was even more beautiful than I remembered.  It’s almost as blue as Lake Tahoe but no one else is really there so it is much more peaceful.  We stayed by the lake for about an hour before heading back.  The way back was much easier than the way up.  The only downside was the mosquitoes.  We were both bitten up but I was bitten much worse than Michael.  We also were passed by many of the runners doing the 100 mile race.  They would be running all night and into the next day.

We stopped by the water on the way back so Michael could take a dip.  I couldn’t do it so waited until we got back to the camper then cleaned up the best I could.  I was anxious to get to a shower.  We went to bed early.  We heard a lot more noise than the previous night.  On the plus side the people who had reserved the site next to us never showed.
